Canceled 5/15/24 9:48 PM Flood Advisory issued May 15 at 8:43PM EDT until May 15 at 11:45PM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA Several clusters of thunderstorms have produced heavy rain across parts of the New River Valley. Additional showers and thunderstorms are expected to result in urban and small stream flooding. * WHAT... Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE... A portion of southwest Virginia, including the following counties and independent city, City of Radford, Montgomery and Pulaski. * WHEN... Until 1145 PM EDT. * IMPACTS... Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 842 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Crab Creek, Little River, Georges Run, New River, Elliott Creek, Back Creek, Connellys Run, Calhoun Run, Meadow Creek and Mill Creek. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Blacksburg...
