At 544 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking the leading edge of strong winds associated with a cluster of thunderstorms. The winds were along a line extending from 9 miles south of Lincolnton to 11 miles southwest of Gastonia to 8 miles southeast of Gaffney. Movement was southeast at 30 mph. Thunderstorms are likely to develop as these winds push southeast.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph even without thunderstorms.
Stronger winds and hail will be possible when thunderstorms develop.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Gastonia, Rock Hill, York, Chester, Southwest Charlotte, Kings Mountain, Fort Mill, Pineville, and Bessemer City.
