For the Cold Weather Advisory above 3500 feet, very cold wind chills of 5 below to 15 below expected, with a few peaks possibly seeing even lower values. * WHERE... Elevations above 3500 feet in Mitchell and Yancey Counties. * WHEN... For the Cold Weather Advisory, until 7 AM EST Friday. For the Wind Advisory, until 7 PM EST this evening. * IMPACTS... Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken. ![]() |
