For the Wind Advisory above 3500 feet, northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 50 mph expected, or up to 55 mph on isolated, extremely high peaks. For the Cold Weather Advisory above 3500 feet, very cold wind chills of 5 below to 15 below expected, with a few peaks possibly seeing even lower values.

* WHERE...
Elevations above 3500 feet in Mitchell and Yancey Counties.

* WHEN...
For the Cold Weather Advisory, until 7 AM EST Friday. For the Wind Advisory, until 7 PM EST this evening.

* IMPACTS...
Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken.
